A Focus on Syria with Middle East Expert Dr. Joshua Landis

Dr. Joshua Landis is Director of the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Oklahoma and Associate Professor of Middle East Studies for OU’s Department of International and Area Studies. Dr. Landis earned his PhD from Princeton, and he has spent more than 14 years in the Middle East – growing up in Beruit and then later returning to teach, study and do research in Damascus, Cairo, Istanbul and Syria.

Dr. Landis is considered one of the nation’s top experts on Syria, and has been interviewed for a number of media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, BBC News and NPR.

Additionally, he was interviewed in a recent Talking Points Memo article, discussing the Obama administration’s Syrian policy and the foreign policy challenges facing Trump’s new administration.
